Privacy Policy — MeasureX
MeasureX is an augmented-reality measurement app published by Arinverse.
The short version
MeasureX has no accounts, no sign-in and no server of its own. Every measurement you take, every photo it captures and every file it exports stays on your phone. We cannot see any of it, because none of it is ever sent anywhere.
The exceptions are advertising and analytics. The app shows ads, and separately reports basic usage data — which screens are opened, how often the app is launched — through Google Analytics for Firebase. Neither ever includes what you measure or photograph. Both are described in full below, and in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland you are asked for consent before either happens.
The only other time the app reaches the internet is on its very first launch, when it downloads its two typefaces from Google Fonts. Nothing about you or your measurements goes with that request; it is described under Fonts below.
What the app does with your camera
MeasureX needs camera access to work at all — measuring in augmented reality means the app has to see the surface you are measuring. Camera frames are processed entirely on your device by Google's ARCore and by the app's own measurement code. They are never uploaded, never stored as video, and never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
When you complete a measurement, the app saves a single still photo of it so you can recognise that measurement later. Those photos are written to the app's private storage on your phone. They are deleted when you delete the measurement, and all of them are removed when you uninstall the app.
What the app stores on your device
- Measurements and projects — the numbers, names, notes and shape geometry you save.
- Measurement photos — one per completed measurement, in app-private storage.
- Settings — units, haptics, overlay colour and your device's calibration.
- Exported files — PDF, PNG and DXF files you choose to export, written to your device's Documents and Pictures folders so other apps can open them. Once exported, those files are yours and are no longer managed by the app.
If you have Android's own backup enabled, your settings and saved measurements may be included in your Google account backup. That backup is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, not by this one. The app's debug log and its measurement photos are deliberately excluded from it.
Advertising
MeasureX displays banner ads and occasional full-screen ads. These are supplied by Google AdMob, which may in turn source an ad from a mediation partner — currently Unity Ads. Both are independent companies and each acts as its own data controller for what it collects.
What advertising services may collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Advertising ID (a resettable identifier Android provides) | To limit how often you see the same ad and, where you have consented, to select relevant ads |
| Device and app information — model, operating-system version, language, app version | To deliver an ad that renders correctly on your device |
| IP address, and coarse location derived from it (country or region level) | To serve ads appropriate to your country and to apply the right privacy laws |
| Ad interaction data — whether an ad was shown, viewed or tapped | To measure and bill for advertising, and to detect fraud |
These companies' own policies govern what they do with that data:
- Google AdMob — How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services
- Unity Ads — Unity Game Player and App User Privacy Policy
MeasureX does not show ads while you are measuring. Full-screen ads appear only at points where you have finished something and moved on — opening the camera, switching measuring tool, saving a project, completing an export — never on top of a measurement in progress, and never when you open the app.
Your choices about advertising
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before serving personalised ads, using Google's User Messaging Platform. If you refuse, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalised. You can change your answer at any time from the app's Settings screen.
- Anywhere, you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android's Settings › Privacy › Ads. Deleting it stops apps from receiving it at all.
- In US states with applicable privacy laws, including California, you may opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising, through the same in-app privacy control.
Analytics
MeasureX uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used — which screens are opened, how often the app is launched, and basic technical details about the devices it runs on. This is separate from advertising, though both are supplied by Google.
What analytics collects
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| App usage — screens viewed, session length, how often the app is opened | To understand which parts of the app are actually used, and to find and fix problems |
| Device and app information — model, operating-system version, language, country, app version | To know which devices and OS versions are worth continuing to support |
| An app-instance identifier — a random ID Google generates for this install, not tied to your name, email or any account | To count installs and returning sessions without needing to know who you are |
| Approximate location, derived from IP address (country or region level) | To break usage down by region and to apply the right privacy rules automatically |
MeasureX does not send Analytics anything about your measurements, projects, or what you photograph — those stay exactly as described above, on your device only. Analytics only ever learns that a screen was opened, never what was on it.
Google's own policy governs what it does with this data: Google's Firebase privacy and security policy.
Your choices about analytics
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics collection is gated by the same consent flow described above for advertising — it does not begin for you until that flow has been shown and resolved. You can change your answer at any time from the app's Settings screen, the same way as for advertising.
Fonts
MeasureX uses the typefaces Manrope and JetBrains Mono, which it downloads from Google Fonts the first time you open the app and then keeps on your device. That one request tells Google's font servers your IP address and which font file was asked for, in the same way as loading any web page that uses Google Fonts. It carries no advertising identifier, nothing about what you measure, and no identifier the app has created.
It happens once, not on every launch, and it is the only network request MeasureX makes that is not an advertising request. If the download does not succeed — because you are offline, for instance — the app simply falls back to your device's own system font and everything else continues to work.
What we do not do
- We do not operate a server and we do not receive your measurements, photos or exports.
- We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or payment details.
- We do not collect precise GPS location. The app requests no location permission.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use crash-reporting services — see Analytics above for the one usage-data service we do use.
Permissions the app requests
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
CAMERA |
Required. Augmented-reality measurement is not possible without it. |
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 9 and older only) |
To save exported reports and drawings where other apps can open them. On Android 10 and newer this is not requested at all. |
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE |
Added by the advertising SDK and by Google Analytics for Firebase. Used to fetch ads, to report the basic usage data described under Analytics above, and once on first launch to download the app's typefaces from Google Fonts (see below). Measuring, saving and exporting all work fully offline. |
AD_ID |
Added by the advertising SDK, so ads can be frequency-capped and, with consent, personalised — also read by Analytics to connect app usage with ad performance where the two are linked. |
Children
MeasureX is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will address it.
Your rights
Because the app holds your data only on your own device, you already have direct control over all of it: delete individual measurements or projects inside the app, use Reset Settings, or uninstall the app to remove everything it stored.
Depending on where you live — under the GDPR in the EEA and UK, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act in India, or state privacy laws in the United States — you may also have rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and objection in respect of data held by the advertising and analytics services named above. Those requests are best directed to Google and Unity through the links in the Advertising and Analytics sections, since they, not we, hold that data. We will help where we can.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with a new "last updated" date. Material changes affecting how the app handles your information will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
